Chambers of the Mausoleum

Ack! I'm a horrible blogger.
Or maybe my Life is just too boring to write about...

Anyhow, my birthday is on Saturday. I've been planning a party for it for a few weeks now and it just so happens that I came down with a cold on Tuesday night.

I'm now on a mission to get better in 24 hours which includes round the clock meds and spicy lemon grass soup.

On another note, I'm still trying to find the direction for this blog to take. Mostly I've been using it to review places I've gone to or things I've tried. I guess I could stick with that but I haven't been out as much because October has been a rough month for me. Hopefully I'll something interesting to write about soon...

Last Fun Place I Went To:

Coffin Creek

I love Halloween Time because it's my FAVORITE holiday and right next to my birthday. I love all the spookiness of this time of year so I can't skip going to a few haunted mazes before the month's up. One maze that was a local attraction was the Chambers of the Mausoleum. It used to be located in Riverside but got moved this year. It's now turned into Coffin Creek which houses more mazes and a haunted hayride. I went in a group of 5 and we all purchased wristbands to be able to experience all they had to offer. The Chambers of the Mausoleum is STILL the best attraction, it has amazing movie quality effects and a different way of walking through it than most mazes. If you're a local, I definitely recommend checking it out. A wristband costs $30 and includes 3 walk through mazes, 1 haunted hayride, and 1 comedy show.

Fancy, Shmancy-ness

Well, a lot of things have happened since my last post but I won't bore anyone with the details. To sum it up, I'll just say that it definitely hasn't been a smooth road and things are still on shaky ground. But one thing I'm learning from my BIOL 5 class is that stressing about Life can be dangerous for ones health so I'm trying to live in the here and now.

This past weekend, the Boyfriend and I spent two nights in Las Vegas. It was on business but we still tried to have some fun while we were out there. We had lunch as this super fancy (and expensive hehe) French cafe. It's called Petrossian Lounge and it's located in the Bellagio. We'd been there once before because I have a fondness for cultural cuisine and they have pretty decent Caviar.

Boyfriend indulged in a cigar and I had the Caviar Waffles. I don't know what kind of Caviar they use, probably the farm-grown kind, but they put it on top of little waffle squares with some red onion and creme. It's actually really good if you like Caviar in the first place.

The best thing about the place? Great live Pianist and it's super cozy. You can sit on couches if opt out on chairs. And it's the perfect place to people watch when you're feet need a rest!

Forget QVC, It's All About Etsy!

As said in my last blog post, the Boyfriend and I haven't been gallivanting as much as we used to and that pretty much includes places like the mall for two reasons:

1) I'm not much of an actual window shopper. I don't like walking from store to store seeing all the things I can't buy. I like going when I know I need to get something and am guaranteed to walk out with it.

2) Whether or not I actually need something, I always feel compelled to buy something. Like, really compelled. (See: "$30 for Sloppy Joe sauce?? That's ridiculous!.....It must taste really good...maybe we should buy it...")

So lately I've taken to perusing Etsy. I'll admit, I started stalking the site because Jenny the Bloggess and Kandee the Make-Up Artist posted links to two amazing stores.

And I've come to the realization that I can't even be trusted inside virtual malls! I've already made 3 separate impulse buys! I don't regret the purchases because, in all honesty, they're pretty rad but wow...
I can't even try that thing in the movie where you hide your credit card (in my case, my debit card) inside a block of ice in the freezer.
Because shopping online means all you need to know is the password to your PayPal account *sigh*

Come be apart of my addictions! Here's the stuff I've bought lately: (And the links where to get them!)

Donuts + Chickens = Yum?

So my lack of blogging is attributed to the fact that my car decided to stop working on me.
It overheated 8 hours into a 10 hour drive to Fallon, where we were trying to attend a funeral for the Boyfriend's Great-Grandpa.

When we got back home, we were told the pistons on the engine were damaged and a head gasket was blown. In short, we were S.O.L.

So I had to go to the dealership and finance a car. Sure that sounds easy but I had my previous car since I was 16...and my mommy and daddy got it for me. I will say this, the guys who work at the dealerships are like ninjas! We pulled in and there were 2 guys standing outside. We took our eyes off them for 1 minute to park and suddenly there were 6 of them!

So since I now have a monthly car payment again, I haven't been able to buy stuff or go out as often.
In other words, my life is too boring to blog about.

But I did go to the L.A. County Fair on Sunday! Boyfriend won me a Keroppi doll and I won a Domo-Kun <3
We mostly spent our money on food though. We had Pink's Famous Chili Dogs (they have an actual store that people line up outside to eat at in Hollywood), Dr. Bob's Ice Cream, Chocolate-Covered Bacon, and finally...Krispy Kreme Chicken Sandwiches.

Just roll me into the morgue now, I'm surprised I didn't have a mini-stroke!
Also, all those calories lost from foam-sword fights are back, ten-fold *sigh*

If you're wondering if the Boyfriend and I liked them, the answer is "Yes"

If you too would like to gain weight fast, here are some links for your pleasure:

Absinthe, Cheese, and Music Oh My!

The boyfriend and I ventured over to Claremont this past Sunday to try out this new restaurant that I've had my eye on, the Hip Kitty Jazz & Fondue Lounge!

I only needed to read the outside menu to know I wanted to come someday. I love kitties! I love cheesy fondue! (Well I love cheese in general) And I'm fond of Jazz! Besides, the boyfriend was in a Jazz band when he was little so I know he would enjoy it too. (Look at me, being all considerate! Fighting back the Youngest Child Syndrome, one moment at a time).

It doesn't open til' 6:30 in the evening but stays open til' 2 am which the night owl in me appreciates. Speaking of owls, I got a cute owl stamped onto my hand because you have to be 21& up to get in and they brand you so that the waitresses know you didn't just slide in.

This place is super cozy as you can see in the picture below which I got off their website:

We got the Baked Macaroni, Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup, Beef & Seafood Fondue, 2 shots of Absinthe, and to finish it off, Brulee Cheesecake. Everything was delicious but the atmosphere is what really made it cool. All in all, we spent $101 (including tip). We're certainly not going to be doing it every night but we will DEFINITELY come back for the tunes and cheesecake!

Try It For Yourself (: Meow!

Rock You Like A Hurricane

The boyfriend and I visited the California Science Center this past Sunday.

We saw a brochure for the Special Exhibit they have on Mummies right now and surprisingly we are a pretty geeky couple who enjoy visiting places like museums.

It was our first time visiting and I have to say, if you haven't gone but like geeky things, GO!
There were a lot of kids there when we went but despite having my Youngest Child Syndrome flare up now and again (I don't like to share >:O *angry face*) it was a lot of fun.

There was so much to see and a lot of it is interactive which is nice because, no matter how old adults get or pretend that they don't want to, we still love to play with things. The museum is broke into many areas and I recommend seeing as much as you can. There's the 'Poles' area where you can touch a giant ice wall or the 'Desert' area where you can watch and feel a simulated Flash Flood every 10 minutes.

There's also a see-through booth where you can pay $2 to see what it feels like to be in a Hurricane sans the rain and flying debris.

Boy friend got to try it out....with 30 strangers gawking at him.

He didn't enjoy it very much (:

Score 1 for me!

It's Nerf or Nothing

The boyfriend and I bought Nerf swords at Wal-Mart the other night.

We usually try to go for a walk at night because I'm extremely lazy but I love junk food and let's just say that combo doesn't bode particularly well. Anyway, we have this park type thing that has a walking trail through it so we have been going there when he drags me away from playing video games.(BTW, I say park type thing because it doesn't even have a swing set. It's not a park if there's no swing set, those are the rules.)

Boyfriend thinks I should try taking a Kendo class because I like swinging stuff around and hitting people. I was intrigued. So we thought it would be a good idea to go buy some foam swords and bring them with us to the park, to test my sword swinging and blocking skills, which we did.

Let's just say that a couple as weird as we are shouldn't be allowed to play with foam swords in public. Also, we watch too much samurai anime.

Also, don't give a foam sword to your boyfriend and expect him to go easy on you.

Because he won't.

FYI Lightning Hurts

My boyfriend and I were leaving the bowling alley the other day and we got stopped by a homeless man who asked if we could help him out. We ended up giving him some money and a Carl's Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger that I had bought for lunch but didn't touch.

As we were getting in the car, we were talking about how at least it seemed like he really was just hungry and wasn't trying to sucker us for money for alcohol or drugs. But then...we had a debate over what the homeless man actually said.

Me: He said 'Could you help me out? I'm hungry'
B/F: Nooo, he said 'Could you help me out? I'm homeless'
Me: *Laughing* No, he did not! I swear he said 'hungry'
B/F: He said 'homeless,' I heard it.
*More arguing ensues and escalates*
Me: He said HUNGRY! If I'm wrong, let me be struck down by lightning!
*B/F stabs me hard in the arm with his incredibly bony finger*
Me: OW! That HURTS!
B/F: *smugly* Lightning hurts.

Brain Blast!

Today I woke up and decided I wanted to be a Blogger...
Not really.
Actually, I've always known I liked to write, I was even on my school newspaper back in high school (even though they like, never published my stuff, but you know, I'm not bitter).

But this summer, the only online class I could get into was Counseling 5. Which is basically career/life planning. I had to research what I want to be when I grow up. Figuratively speaking. Because I'm like 4'11 if not shorter and I'm not growing anymore. Ever.

Anyway, my major's Communications with an Emphasis in Journalism (which I copy and pasted straight off the website) and I figured if I had to choose a job to research on then it was going to be...ENTERTAINMENT BLOGGER! Because I like to write and I like to stick my nose into other people's business and then blab about it to other people, complete strangers if I must.

So according to some of the open job listings, if you want to get hired for this kind of job, you gotta have blogging experience. It said 5 years experience on one of the websites. And I realized I'm sad and I don't even have a blog. So now I have to start or else I'll never get hired and live the rest of my adult life as a bum...although I think I would make a very good one because So-Cal beaches have free showers and my rust bucket car is paid off so I would have a place to sleep. Also, sometimes I don't even want to be a functioning member of society...what? I said sometimes. I pay my taxes, get off my back!

So I guess now starts my Life as a Blogger...
You know what would be funny? If I failed epicly and my dreams were crushed. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

Sidenote: As I am formatting this blog, I realize I have no idea what the difference is between Arial font and Helvetica?????
